Intromatics!

Icewind Dale still has one of the best introduction cinematic I've ever seen to a game. Despite it being over 10 years old now. Like all good introductory cinematics it doesn't throw hundreds of unnecessary details at you both in lore and visually allowing you to focus on the expression of narrators voice along with simple frames of art to help you quickly understand the scenario of the Story being read. You capture the players imagination and get them in the mood for finding out more.

Another nice example of a similar narrative intro cinematic would be Dungeon Siege 2, which uses a nice combination of cinematics and simple storyboard images.

It's no surprise to me that Guild Wars 2, possibly the best MMORPGs I've seen in the last decade has decided to use these simple but powerful well voice acted cinematics to introduce the players to there characters.

These cinematics along with your questline are linked to the motivations you choose when answering questions about your character at the start which is nice. Below is a link to the end character creation of a character as they choose the answer to these questions and the intro cinematic for that character.

Also Before i go Have some relaxing RPG music  : ) What's your favourite RPG tracks?
